Weekly Weiss Schwarz with MoosiferX

Hello and welcome to the second installment of “Weekly Weiss Schwarz”! This week we have a special announcement, so without further adieu we’d like to invite you to join us for our quasi-monthly Weiss Schwarz tournament ~ a Neo-Standard affair ~ on Saturday, April 26th @ 4:00 p.m.!

“What constitutes a Neo-Standard deck”, you might be wondering. Well, a Neo-Standard deck is one that only has cards from a particular series/universe. For example, your deck could only have cards from the “Monogatari” sets, or the “Fate” sets, “Da Capo” sets, and so on. If you own a trial deck, you’re already equipped to participate in this tournament!

Again the tournament will be taking place on Saturday, April 26th @ 4:00 p.m. — there will be a $5 entry fee which will go towards food/prizes.

Now onto the main topic for this week’s “Weekly Weiss” my favorite combo from the recent Extra Booster set Fate/Kaleid Liner. This particular combo involves 3 different cards.

“Kaleidoscope”イリヤ (Illya); “Kaleidoscope”美遊 (Miyu); and クラスカード セイバー (Class Card Saber)

“Kaleidoscope” Illya has the following two abilities:

[A] When this card is placed from your hand to the Stage or via a [CHANGE] ability to the Stage, draw up to 2 cards, and then choose and discard a card from your hand to the Waiting Room.

[A] [Cost: Discard a “Class Card Saber” from your hand to the Waiting Room] When “Class Card Saber” is placed in your Climax Zone, if you have “Kaleidoscope” Miyu in play, place the top card of your Library into the Waiting Room. If that card is Level 1 or lower, you may pay the above cost. If you do, all your Characters gain “[A] When this attacks, deal 1 Damage to your Opponent” for the turn. (A Climax card is considered to be Level 0. Damage cancel can still occur.)

“Kaleidoscope” Miyu also has 2 abilities:

[A] When this card is placed from your hand to the Stage or via a [CHANGE] ability to the Stage, look at up to X cards from top of your Library and choose up to 1 of them and put it in your hand. Put the rest of the cards into the Waiting Room. (X = total number of your ::Magic:: Characters in play.)

[A] When “Class Card Saber” is placed in your Climax Zone, if this card is in the Front Row, draw a card, and for the turn, “Kaleidoscope” Miyu gains +1500 power and the ability “When the Battle Opponent of this becomes Reversed, you may place it at the bottom of the Library.”

And lastly, the card that makes it all work ~ Class Card Saber:

[C] All your Characters gain +1000 Power and +1 Soul.

Class Card Saber is also notable for being one of the first Climax cards with the new “Gate” Trigger. When you’re attacking and it’s triggered, you get to choose 1 climax card in your Waiting Room and return it to your hand!

Phew, that’s a lot of text, eh? As you can see, these three cards working in tandem can make for a pretty destructive turn. In addition to the 2 damage from each of the attackers, you’re also getting 1 damage from the climax card, and an additional damage from declaring each attack. Granted this all takes quite a bit of patience to set up, but I haven’t had a game with this deck where I wasn’t able to pull it off.

I was able to make this deck with about 3 of the Fate/Kaleid Liner Extra Booster Boxes which retail at $39.99 each. It plays really well, and I’ll probably be using it for our upcoming tournament in April.

Until next time, see you on WeissFight!! Wednesday (tonight!) @ 5:00.
